🔎 Thread Number Lookup

How It Works
- Upload your artwork (or try the sample image). It never leaves your device.
- Root Of Color finds the main colors. You can also click the image to pick any exact color.
- Each color is compared with every thread color using CIEDE2000, a standard formula for how different two colors look to the human eye.
- Add the threads you like to your list, then print it or export it.
What the Match % means
Match % = 100 − 3⅓ × ΔE2000 (ΔE is the color difference; a ΔE of about 1 is the smallest difference most people can see). 95% (ΔE 1.5) is nearly identical, 90% (ΔE 3) is very close, 85% (ΔE 4.5) is close, and 80% (ΔE 6) is a noticeable but usable difference. These are on-screen estimates, not a guarantee of how thread looks on fabric.
About Root Of Color
Root Of Color was created from a simple frustration: finding the perfect thread color for an embroidery project often took much longer than expected, especially when several shades looked nearly identical in a thread chart. We wanted to make that process simpler, faster, and more enjoyable by bringing thread color matching into one easy-to-use tool.
